Lol. Conan is frikkin' awesome. Can't wait to see this new horrible movie that will be coming out. I am more interested in the animated Red Nails movie than the new Live Action movie. I have a shit ton of Conan comics and a Conan encyclopedia that I am reading when I have down time.

The new movie will have Jason Momoa from Stargate Atlantis (Ronin) as Conan.

I just saw the new production shots it doesn't look too bad. I mean he's no arnold but I don't think that it was originally written as him being a HUGE muscular guy. Just a barbarian, which dnd makes into a huge musclar warrior.

The thing that will kill it is the writer and director.

There is also a new Red Sonja movie coming out. Rose McGowan as Red Sonja. It looks like a copy of 300 filming style but with Red Sonja in it. I'm getting annoyed by Hollywood again. Something cool comes out and they have to mass produce it, and take away from the art of a good film by making a bad movie that looks like it. Whatever makes money I guess.

Much as esteemed critic Roger Ebert said about games, art in movies is dying. Or at least is confined to the indie scene. And honestly, I don't much care about art in movies anymore. I enjoyed Inception and The Expendables equally, but for different reasons. And neither one is what I would refer to as "art". While Inception appealed to the cerebral part of me, the Expendable appealed to the childlike love of violence I've managed to nurture through, work, 401k's, a mortgage, and car payments. But, over all, neither movie will be heralded as an amazing breakthrough in film making. The medium is stale, and needs a massive change. 3-D is not it. I don't give a damn how much James Cameron tries to cram it down my throat!

I would do things to Rose McGowan, even if dizzy hates her, I'd do bad things to her, so, yeah, I'll watch it.

I'm right there with you about doing bad things to Rose McGowan. Mostly involving ropes, whips, and lube. And I will watch Red Sonja as well. I agree also that art is almost completely confined to the indie sector of filming.
Cameron's Avatar was an amalgamation of two things. Ferngully and Pocahontas. Mostly Ferngully. Keep that in mind and all the movie has is the special effects. Special effects does not carry a movies weight. It may be dazzling to the eye, but the fascination quickly passes.
3D effects have become a crutch that is leaned on too much. An effect here and there is acceptable, but scene after scene of special effects is just abuse.
I have been wanting to see Inception. I really need to see that. I do like Christopher Nolan's films (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Prestige, Memento, Insomnia) and have heard nothing but good things about Inception.

Inception is bar none one of the best movies I've watched this year. I highly reccomend watching it. Decent use of special effects, but, the story line carries the movie above all.
