History lover

Mostly I have done historicals for the last 20 or so years. Ancient and medieval is what I specialized in. With a masters in medieval history I guess it is a natural thing. The armies I have range from 600 BC to1500 AD and total painted figures are about 3500 all in 15mm. Napoleonics is my favorite period but I have no figures for that so I have to play it a lot when I go to conventions. Saying I hate ACW would be to strong but I dislike the time. It is largely all about poor commanders leading conscripts and recruits and when the two armies blundered into each other people getting slaughtered. If you like that kind of battle the Franco-Prussian war for the 1870's is mush better.
Currently I am doing colonials. China and the Boxer Rebellion from 1900 was my starting point but I have moved on to Africa. From about 1850 to the 1920's there are so many little wars it is a interesting place. This is all in 25mm because when I turned 40 my eyes needed a little help.
When I was in high school my gaming started with D&D. Living in Columbus was a great place because it has a wonderful gaming culture. We did all the normal RPG stuff that came out like traveler and paranoia and others but I quickly became exposed to the greater expanse of gaming and found historicals much more to my liking. Recently fantasy has comeback round when I got a few Heroscape games from Walmart real cheap about two years ago. I liked the figures but the rules lacked something so I wrote a set of rules for mass battles and have been collecting fantasy stuff. Last fall I ran a large game at Charcon in Charleston WV.
Over the years I have been accumulating sci-fi troops and terrain but have done little with it until this year. So I found a rules set and am running large table(12'x10') battles and it is a blast(pun intended)
Each year I run a game day on the third Saturday of February for HMGS Great Lakes in Cambridge. Of course it is mostly historicals but there is also sci-fi and fantasy. Here is the link to the web site http://www.battleatcrossroads.com/Default.html
That should give a basic over view of what I do gaming wise

Cool!!
What rule set are you using for sci fi? I'm a developer for the skirmish game Death Squads (a fan created game based on Warhammer 40k) it's 28mm scale game though. I play the Eldar.

Modified DAR (Dark Age Rumble, by Ralph Hoegermeyer)
I use a little of every thing when it comes to figures

Welcome to the site, sounds like you have a fairly broad interest even if your preferred area is pretty focused.

That is really cool JR41US. I am a ancient history buff myself. I nearly jizzed my pants (said "oh, cool) when I came across an old leather bound copy of Beowulf written in the original Old English for only 2 bucks at the library's used-books-for-sale section. I was so excited that I ran home (casually drove my car) and took my giddy nerdiness to another level, I wrote the first few pages of the poem in Anglo Saxon, which I know how to read and write in.
