Magic at WSCC

Postby Dysturbed » Sun May 22, 2011 12:37 am

Well dumbass me forgot my camera today but.

I played in the Extended Double Elim tournament at WSCC yesterday.
I played a Infect/Proliferate deck and did well, i had a few really bad technical plays that cost me a few things but I hope to work at those for next time. I ended up placing 7th overall getting 5-3 as my record. Really happy with the way my deck performed but it could definitely use a few things.

I donated a Fat Pack of New Pyrexia to the prizes for the Tournament. It was given away by random dice roll by your's truely. It went to one of our local high school students that attended the game.

Im really happy to give stuff to a good cause! If you wanna see more of these prizes from SEOGG though I gotta start selling something to make money to buy these prizes for the next tournament because it's going to get expensive quick out of my own pocket. Luckily $10 of the funds today did come from Tshirt sales, so there was that.

I know Arew was there and I think a few other of our members. I'm glad to see you all at the events it gives me hope for the future of the site and hosting events like that in the future. If anyone else did get pictures (i didn't see many flashes or anything going around today so i doubt it).

Not to be forgotten Trey (our own Magic Prime) was hosting the MariettaLAN across the hall from the magic tournament which seemed to have quite a few people at it today also. (though i didn't have much time to go over and check much out).

Great day of gaming I had alot of fun and I think everyone did.

Just so everyone knows WSCC Digital Technology Dept. and Fantasy Sports Cards will be putting on a bi-monthly tournament like this. So look for the announcements about it as they come in. If you have any questions you can email me or email Casey Corbett from WSCC (i think his email is ccorbett@wscc.edu but ill fix it if it's wrong) he is the TO (Tournament Organizer) for these events, If you have any questions about MariettaLAN you can check out their website at http://mariettalan.wscc.edu/

All fees collected and funds raised from the tournaments will go toward paying for field trips for the Digital Technology Students when they go to E3 each year as a class trip. (yeah i know, lucky bastards)

My best match was against Theo today.
Game 1:
I got a Necroskitter (http://magiccards.info/query?q=necroskitter&v=card&s=cname) out early against his green deck and a crumbling ashes (http://magiccards.info/query?q=crumbling+ashes&v=card&s=cname).
i was putting -1/-1 counters on everything I could and ended up stealing about 4 creatures off of him and beating him to death with them. Almost got to steal his Pelakka Wurm (http://magiccards.info/query?q=!Pelakka%20Wurm) but match ended first. I actually didn't get a single poison counter on him that game all strait damage.

Game 2
was a rough one for both of us.
I popped a contagion clasp (http://magiccards.info/query?q=!Contagion+Clasp) pretty early and he was doing what green decks do and ramping mana out to pull big creatures.
I got a crumbling Ashes again and kept pinging him for -1/-1 damage on all his creatures he brought out. Then destorying them on my turn. My saving card this game was Tumble Magnet (http://magiccards.info/query?q=Tumble+Magnet&v=card&s=cname) though it saved me from dying early. But toward the end I was at 7 life left after taking a beating the turn before. I ended up with a Contagion Clasp and Contagion Engine (http://magiccards.info/query?q=contagion+engine&v=card&s=cname) out and enough mana to tap both for 3 proliferates in one turn. Theo hit me for 6 damage. Theo is at 25 life and 7 poison counters. I take him down with proliferate.

He told me after the game he had a naturalize in his hand he forgot to cast to take out my crumbling ashes lol.

Good times, but a stressful 2nd game.
